Geography field trip in the local area
We went on a field trip around Clayton and the Westlands to look at the human and physical features in our suburb of Newcastle. We found many human features such as a doctors’ surgery, a library, roads, shops and different types of houses (bungalows, semi-detached and detached houses, and flats). There were more human features than physical features although we did see the fields and trees of Bunny Hill. We decided that we should consider most of the grassed areas as human features, as they had been created by people. We used a map to help us navigate our route and applied the four compass points to explain which direction we were going at different locations on our walk. We also had photos of landmarks and places to spot during the walk.
